The golf team at Collinsville High School is ready to take on a challenging schedule this season and one player, Karsyn Kiker, is excited to get things underway.
Kiker has played golf for six years and she has continued to work on her game in the offseason. Like many of her peers, one aspect of their game can never get too much work.
“I have worked to improve my short game,” said Kiker.
The team is close, and the chemistry continues to grow as the Lady Cardinals build the golf program into a contender.
“What I love about my teammates is how close we are! We all have a very tight bond and have a lot of fun together,” said Kiker. “We are a very fresh team and very excited to work hard this season.”
Kiker not only competes in golf, but she is also a member of the varsity cheer squad as well. Kiker said being a student-athlete at Collinsville High School is a special experience.
“I love that I got to meet my closest friends. It has brought me so close to my teammates and we all keep each other accountable on the course and in the classroom,” said Kiker.
The schoolwork is a top priority for Kiker and as a member of National Honor Society, Kiker stays on top of her grades and is already thinking about life after high school.
“My favorite subject this year is English, but my favorite teacher is Mr. Prickett,” said Kiker. “I hope to go to college and then to dental school.”
Away from school, you can usually find Kiker hanging out with friends and family or playing golf with her dad. Kiker said she does have a favorite course and it’s not in Oklahoma.
“My favorite course I played Desert Island in Palm Springs. I had my best round there and I got to play with my family,” said Kiker
