Avery Arant- Jenks High School
Avery Arant loves competition. On the tennis court she competes and plays against other girls equally passionate about their sport. Now a sophomore at Jenks High School, Avery looks forward to building her skill as she continues playing throughout high school.
Seven years of tennis has taught Avery mental toughness, but her early interest in tennis was a little less serious. “I started because I wanted to play an individual sport and,” she laughs, “the tennis outfits were the cutest.”
Cute outfits aside, she says the best part of being on a team is how the group pulls together. “I love going to tournamentsand supporting each other as a team. My favorite part about representing Jenks is getting to defend our titles and school reputation,” said Avery.
Advancing in sports takes commitment. Focusing on what brought her to the game keeps her motivated. “I have to remember why I play the game and why I love it and also to live without regret,” she says.
She wants to thank her coach, Doug Stone, for his unwavering support and being an amazing coach. She is also thankful to her family for always working hard and being there for her. Avery is especially thankful to and inspired by her sister, Sofie.
The teammate who has made the biggest impression on Avery is Ava Jacobsen. She says Ava is an amazing person to be around. The professional athlete she looks up to is Spanish tennis player, Paula Badosa. Avery admires her athleticism andhow she gives it her all, even in the toughest situations.
Avery was asked where she would travel to if she could go anywhere with anyone. She wants to take a family girl trip with her sisters. Her dream is to see the wildlife and beaches in Australia.
