Hayden Byrne- Bixby High School
Hayden Byrne is widely recognized by her nickname. Her dad called her Hayden Bug when she was born, and the name Buggy stuck. Now a senior at Bixby High School, Hayden will be known for years to come not only for her fun nickname, but also as an outstanding student and team leader on the softball field.
Representing her school as a student athlete is an opportunity for Hayden to show other people the strong character BHS students represent outside of school. She was once told to be a small part of someone’s mountain. “You never know what people are going through so treat everyone with kindness and grace!” Hayden says.
Being on a team means everyone works together for one common goal. That common goal was realized her senior year during slow-pitch season. Her team made an appearance at the state tournament. This achievement stands out as the highlight of her softball career. Hayden will always remember how her coaches made the season enjoyable.
“I got into playing this sport when I was around eight years old! My dad coached my older sister for years and I always loved watching her, so I started playing coach pitch and haven’t stopped since!” she says. “I love the game and I want younger girls to have the same joy I receive from playing!”
Hayden is most inspired by her family. Succeeding for them and making them proud is important to her. The teammate leaving the biggest impression is Savannah Duran. “She is always there for me and leads our team to be more faithful in their individual walks with Christ,” said Hayden.
Hayden is involved in many clubs at BHS but her most significant role is acting as Student Council President. She is also active in STUCO, Leadership, FCCLA, BPA, and Interact Club.
