JENKS TROJANS

Coach: TODD WILLIAMS

14-13

OUTLOOK

Jenks head coach Todd Williams admits last season was not what he wants to see from Jenks softball. Coming into the 2024 season, Williams and his team are focused on doing the little things right and playing up to the standards he expects from his ball club. “We are looking to bounce back from a subpar season from a year ago. We have three seniors this year that all should be good leaders for our team, but the team will look to Paiton Hedges to command that leading role from her catching position,” said Williams. Hedges (C/1B, Sr.) was named the 6A All-District catcher last season and hit .338 as a junior. Hedges brings leadership, great defense, and a live bat to the lineup for the Trojans. Another player to watch this season is Jessie Ammann (OF/C/UTL, Jr.) who is a coach’s dream. Ammann can play multiple positions but brings a level of responsibility to the team that translates into being a great teammate. Ammann is always willing to go the extra mile for her team. Kennedy Joiner (Sr.) and underclassman Payton Koch (So.) are two players Jenks will lean on this season. Coach Williams said Joiner is the “moral compass of the team,” while Koch pitched last season as a freshman and is expected to have a breakout season both pitching and hitting. Overall the Trojans are facing another challenging season based on a tough schedule, but this team has shown they have the resolve to compete and if they get some help from a few players looking to step up this season, they could be there in the end competing for a district title.
