Tayen Allen’s journey with softball began at the tender age of four, when her mom and best friend’s mom decided to coach a T-ball team. “Ever since then, I’ve loved this sport.” This early introduction fostered a deep-seated passion for the game, heavily influenced by her mother. “My biggest influence is my mom; she is the hardest worker I know and she’s the one who inspired me to play softball.”
Tayen sees herself as a leader both on and off the field for the Coweta Tigers. Her ambitions for her final year are crystal clear. “To make the state tournament and more specifically, have a chance to win a title. I’m hoping to go out with a state title for my last year.”
One of her toughest challenges came during an injury in the first game of regionals last year. “It was difficult to know that I might’ve been done for the year, but instead, I pushed myself. I played every game after that first regional game, despite the pain I was in.” However large the setback, Tayen’s determination led her to memorable victories. “A memorable moment last year was winning regionals with that class of seniors in their last game on our field. Then, upsetting the #2 seed at state, first round, when everyone was doubting us all season.”
Looking ahead, Tayen envisions a future that balances her love for softball and academics. She plans to start this journey at McLennan Community College. “I plan on attending McLennan Community College to continue my softball career and then I plan on going somewhere to continue after those two years as well.”
For Tayen, community support is invaluable. “The community support for our team means a lot. To have a bunch of people in our stands cheering us on, knowing we want to play our best for them, is the best feeling.”
Through the many seasons, Tayen is particularly proud of her resilience. “I think I’m just most proud of the way I have overcome things and just kept my focus on performing for my team.”
Tayen’s gratitude extends to those who have supported her journey. “I would like to thank my family, my past and present coaches, and everyone who has had any sort of role in anything I’ve done during my journey.”
