When the Patriots of Metro Christian Academy take this field for their first game this season, one player will enter his 13th season of football. That player is Jake Campbell.

“I started playing flag football in kindergarten and tackle football when I was in second grade, my freshman year was the year that I realized that it was for me,” said Campbell.

Now the starting left guard for the Patriots, Campbell is excited with what he has seen from his team this spring and summer. As a Patriot, Campbell and his teammates work hard every year to bring their very best to the field.

“Some positives I’ve seen from the offense in spring ball was that we have quite a bit of returning starters from last year, and our run game will be very strong this year,” said Campbell. “I have played pretty much everywhere on the line but LG has to be my favorite because I feel more comfortable playing on the left side and I love pulling across the line of scrimmage.”

Campbell has built a great relationship with his teammates during his career at Metro Christian and they are setting big goals for the team this year.

“The thing I love most about my teammates has got to be the amount of care they all have and that they are always willing to pick you up at all times,” said Campbell. “My dream scenario for this year is to build a culture of leadership and winning a state championship.”

Also a baseball player, Campbell has turned most of his attention to becoming a player who can help this team win and elevate his efforts in the classroom. “Metro is great at teaching you to be able to balance your athletics while still managing to keep up with your work. When I have down time, I love to get out and go golfing with friends,” said Campbell. “The most fun thing I’ve done this summer has got to be going on our senior football retreat to the lake.”
