Owasso’s Madilyn Hill – Volleyball Spotlight – Presented by McGraw Realtors

A sophomore at Owasso High School, Madilyn Hill plays basketball and volleyball for the Lady Rams. Her high school athletic career has gotten off to a great start. During her freshman year she got to enjoy the basketball team making it to state and in volleyball Hill got to make the game-winning kill to win regionals. Throughout it all, she loves the teammates she has around her.

“Last year I was blessed with having great teammates that always pushed me to be better,” she said. “As a freshman I was lucky to have so many upperclassmen to look up to and learn from. Kiya Colvin was always there telling me what to fix or how to be better. She pushed me! A lot of my teammates were going to college for that sport and it showed me what had to be done to be able to fill their roles when they left, and how to get to college for my sports one day also.”

Hill understands that every member of the team is valuable, a mindset that encourages success.

“I think we work great as a team because we appreciate everyone,” she said. “Each role is different, not more or less important. While some positions are more flashy, the quiet ones are what keeps us going and they are very appreciated!”

On that same note, Hill says that she is motivated by knowing that people are counting on her.

“I honestly think the biggest thing is just showing up in all things involving your sports…weights, practice, games etc! Knowing that you are needed and accepting that role on your team is a huge deal,” she said.

Hill’s parents have been crucial in her growth as an athlete and a person.

“My biggest role models have to be my parents,” she said. “They have taught me to be the best person on and off the court and they support me through everything.”

Hill looks forward to her sophomore seasons and the years to come as an Owasso Ram.

“Knowing that I have the support from my community means so much! Everyone is cheering for everyone at all times! Being an Owasso Ram is awesome! I know that I have people behind me wanting the best for me and that is such an amazing feeling!”
