A starting Libero for the Lady Comets, Milee Jackson has played volleyball since she was in elementary school. Her passion for the sport is obvious when you see her play.
“I started playing volleyball in second grade. I knew volleyball was the sport for me when my first volleyball coach said, “If you’re in the Olympics make sure you mention my name on television.” The day he made that statement is the day I realized he was going to be the start of my successful volleyball journey,” said Jackson.
The game is more than aces and digs for Jackson. It’s the competitiveness and the bond you build with teammates that makes the game special.
“What I love about the game of volleyball is the fast-paced nature and playing such a competitive sport with my best friends. My favorite memory from playing volleyball was when my high school volleyball team beat Mount Saint Mary in the first round at the 6A state tournament my junior year,” said Jackson.
This season Jackson welcomes the challenge of playing what has become a good rivalry.
“The game I have circled on my calendar and excited to play next is against Mount Saint Mary in October. Every time we play them there is so much adrenaline on the court because they run such a fast-paced offense,” said Jackson.
Representing Bishop Kelley is something Jackson is proud to do. “Bishop Kelley is a special place to be a student-athlete because BK offers strong support for both academics and athletics. They provide us with many resources to help balance our studies and athletic commitments,” said Jackson.
Away from school you can usually find Jackson relaxing at home or going to the movies with her mom and brother. Her goal after high school is to study pre-law and eventually become a lawyer.
