Owasso’s Kalai Johnson
The Lady Rams are poised for another great year on the court. One player excited to contribute this season is sophomore Kalai Johnson. Johnson has played basketball for as long as she can remember.
“My current position is guard. I started playing basketball when I was in 2nd grade,” said Johnson.
Johnson said she loves being around her teammates and the different personalities on the team.
“A teammate that has impressed me this season is Sarah Yokley by taking a great role in leadership this year. Katelynn Knight is a teammate that I can count on to make me laugh. I love how my all of my teammates are very supportive and caring to each other even in hard times,” said Johnson.
For the sophomore, OHS is a great place to be a student-athlete for many reasons.
“OHS is a great place for me as a student-athlete because they provide a vast amount of supplies and resources, and an inclusive environment. My favorite subject is Spanish taught by Mrs. Ball, she’s the best,” said Johnson.
In the spring, Johnson will compete with the track team, but for now she is focused on basketball and making some great memories with her teammates.
“My favorite memory from playing for Owasso was winning area and punching a ticket to state my freshman year,” said Johnson. After high school, Johnson said she would like to attend college and major in Business before opening her own Real Estate Agency.
