Kelsey Trego – Collinsville Teacher

Former Booker T. Washington and Northeastern State University graduate Kelsey Trego is a current teacher at Collinsville High School where she teaches Algebra 1 and Geometry to mostly freshmen and sophomores. Trego started her career as an educator in Tulsa before making the move to Collinsville.

“I started teaching in 2015 at Union Freshman Academy, I taught there until 2023. I moved to Collinsville for the 2023-24 school year,” said Trego.

There are many reasons Trego wanted to become a teacher. Watching her students have that “I get it” moment is one of them.

“I love those light bulb moments when a student finally understands a concept they have been struggling with,” Trego said. “I always remember wanting to be a teacher growing up. But Rebecca Stuckey Cutsinger was my middle school counselor. I think she made a huge impact on my career goals. I watched Rebecca make so many students feel important and encouraged them to always do their best.”

Students in a class taught by Ms. Trego can expect a teacher who is invested in a positive outcome for her students.

“My students would say that they would expect to prepare themselves for success in future math classes. Where they can get the opportunity to be successful in a math class after struggling in past years,” Trego said. “A teacher who will sit and work with them to help them do their best but expect the best out of them when they are in class. We spend time working on the smaller concepts that will add up to bigger concepts to make understanding easier.”

Away from school you can usually find Ms. Trego spending time with her family and making wonderful memories with her kids.
