Q&A with Owasso Lady Wrestler Zion Moore – Presented by Buddy McCarty State Farm

VYPE: Zion, what grade are you in and when did you start wrestling?
Zion Moore: I am a senior, and I started wrestling in 2022!

VYPE: What is your favorite memory or moment as an athlete for Owasso HS?
ZM: My favorite memory as an OHS athlete is winning my match in the state semifinals against a girl who was undefeated.

VYPE: What is your favorite subject to study?
ZM: My favorite subject to study is probably English.

VYPE: What makes OHS a great place for you as a student-athlete?
ZM: OHS is a great place to be a student athlete because our teams are supportive of one another; we also have the best athletic training facilities and staff!

VYPE: Have you been impressed with a teammate this season or do you have a former teammate who left an impression on you?
ZM: A former teammate that has left an impression on me is Presley Dillard. She was always brought a good energy to practice, and she gave moves different names so that they were easier to remember.

VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing, who is the most serious?
ZM: I would have to that the girls who keep us laughing are Payton Maggard and Katie Drummond, they like to keep us on our toes. We don’t have anyone super serious.

VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
ZM: I mentally prepare myself for competition but taking practice seriously and by getting a quiet mind right before I wrestle.

VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?
ZM: I love how we can have our moments of seriousness but also have a good time all together.

VYPE: What’s the goal for life after high school?
ZM: After high school the goal is to attend college and wrestle at a colligate level.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
ZM: My little brother Charles inspires me because even though he is disabled he works hard and has persevered through many challenges.
