VYPE: What goals do you have for this year in soccer? 

Kaylee Gibson: My goals for this year are winning state and setting a new school record for most goals in a season.

VYPE: What has soccer taught you that you use in your daily life? 

KG: Soccer has taught me to understand other people’s point of views and how to use problem solving to find the best solution. Also, it taught me team building skills and leadership.

VYPE: What’s your favorite shoes to wear when playing soccer?

KG: My favorite cleats are the original, old-school Adidas Copas!

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

KG: My parents because they taught me that nothing in life is handed to me and the importance of working for what I want in life.

VYPE: What do you think is the biggest challenge in soccer?

KG: The biggest challenge in soccer in my opinion is the “pay-to-play” mentality. There are very talented athletes out there who have the ability to play at the college level but can’t afford it or don’t have a path to reach that next level.

VYPE: What do you think makes a great soccer player?

KG: Qualities of a great soccer player are teamwork, leadership and lifting people up to their highest level, understanding of the game, and their ability to do their job on the field effectively.


VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.

KG: Both of my parents played in college but only my dad went on to play professionally so I would have to say my dad.

VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?

KG: I played basketball up until senior year but stopped for soccer fully, but I wish I had the time to continue playing for my senior year.

VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?

KG: I don’t have a go-to song, I usually listen to inspirational speeches by professional athletes to calm my pre-game nerves.
