Parker Collins was made to catch flyballs in center field. This Collinsville High School senior picked up a bat and glove at a young age and hasn’t been able to set them down. Discipline, a strong work ethic and lifelong friendships are all things Parker now has because of baseball.
Student-athletes play an important role in representing their teams and the school as a whole. Parker wants to represent his high school well and leave his mark on CHS.
“Just being able to compete for a school is something I really enjoy,” says Parker.
Teammates like Spencer Cupps embody what baseball is about.
“He leaves the biggest impression on me because he shows up every day with a great attitude working to get better,” said Parker.
One of his favorite memories is of his team doing something as a group that the entire school could see and enjoy.
“My favorite memory is when the whole baseball team buzzed our heads, it was just cool to share that moment with my teammates,” says Parker.
The person he is most inspired by is his mom.
“She is always able to cheer you up when you’re down and she always looks for the good in the bad.”
He is thankful to many people in his life.
“I just want to thank all of my teachers, coaches and parents for supporting me all along. I also want to thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ for making me how I am today. I think the best advice I’ve ever been given is to become a follower of Christ because it changed my life.”
Parker’s favorite teacher in school is Mrs. Houts from his junior year. He says she was fun to have classes with. Away from baseball, he enjoys spending time outdoors participating in his other favorite activities, hunting and fishing.
His immediate plans are to play college baseball. After college, Parker’s dream is to become a firefighter.
