Skiatook Senior Spotlight Shawn Phelps – Presented by Hopkins Funeral Service

VYPE: What sport and position do you play? Tell me your favorite part of your position. 

Shawn Phelps: I play baseball and I am the center fielder. My favorite part about my position is that I get mostly fly balls. 

VYPE: What life lessons or skills has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life? 

SP: Baseball has taught me how to overcome my anxiety and I use that in my daily life.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team? 

SP: My favorite part about being on a team is that they are basically family for the next two to three months.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport? 

SP: I am passionate about baseball because I love the sport. 

VYPE: Who inspires you? This is your chance to thank anyone you wish. 

SP: My dad inspires me because he is the most hardworking person I know. I want to thank my mom and dad for allowing me to play my favorite sport and I would also like to thank my coaches.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why? 

SP: Jack Porter has inspired me to work harder during the offseason. 

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete? 

SP: My favorite part is when we have home games and people come to watch us play. 

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you? 

SP: The best advice anyone has given me is to be able to forget the bad and remember the good. Your attitude is everything in this sport.

VYPE: What is the most memorable vacation you have taken and why?

SP: The most memorable vacation I have ever taken was when I went to Alaska and saw all the mountains.
