SNU Spotlight with Brady Pyle – Presented by Southern Nazarene University

Brady Pyle

When Brady Pyle completed her bachelor’s degree in 2022, she had her mind set on postponing her pursuit of a master’s degree to focus on her career as a teacher. A career she did not expect to love and enjoy as much as she does today.

“I said I did not want to get my master’s immediately, but I also said I would never be a teacher…we see how that panned out! The joke is on me because I fell in love with the only profession that I had ever rejected, so it is true when they say that “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” Both of my parents, who also completed the MAEL program at SNU, have been in education for over 30 years, so when one of our classmates began recruiting members for the MAEL satellite program in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, my sister jumped at the opportunity,” Pyle said. “She asked me to join her on the journey, but I told her I was not interested at the time. Then, as time went on, the program was cut short by one member. This pushed me to join the SNU program since I did not want my sister to miss out on such an amazing opportunity. Even though this was not part of my plan, it was part of the plan that God had created for me, and I could not be happier with the decision.”

Currently, Pyle is teaching English I, English IV, and ACT Prep at Sulphur High School. Her first teaching job was at Elmore City High School, which was a great experience for Pyle.

“As an Elmore City Badger, I learned who I am as a teacher, who I am as a leader, and who I am as a person—my time at Elmore City prepared me for my new journey this year as a Sulphur Bulldog,” Pyle said. “The degree I am obtaining through the MAEL program at SNU will help me become an effective leader within my school.”

Growing up, Pyle said she spent summers at the lake, and she still loves it today.

My parents always had to keep an eye on me because as soon as I would surface from the water and catch my breath, I would disappear just as quickly. These family summers at the lake have never ended, and you can still find me neck-deep in the water. The only thing that’s changed is that now I am ready to eat one of Mom’s sandwiches that I didn’t have to make myself. Aside from the lake, during those colder months when I am forced inside, you can find me catching up on the latest ‘Crime Junkie’ podcast, watching the latest binge-worthy series, or snuggling up on the couch, grabbing my Kindle, and waiting for my weenie dog to curl up at my feet,” said Pyle.
