9 Questions with Catoosa Soccer’s Brooklynn Scott – Presented by Tulsa Bone & Joint

VYPE: What grade are you in, and how did your soccer journey begin?
Brooklynn Scott: I am a sophomore and my soccer journey began playing rec soccer for Catoosa at age four.

VYPE: What position do you play and how has your understanding of that role evolved over time?
BS: I play attacking midfield and over time my understanding of that role has evolved into realizing that attacking midfielders have to read the game and make quick decisions.

VYPE: When the game is on the line, what do you trust most about yourself as a player?
BS: I trust that I would continue to make smart decisions and work hard until the final whistle.

VYPE: How do you prepare mentally and physically for high-pressure matches?
BS: I prepare mentally for a tough game by staying calm and laughing with my friends before to relieve the tension. Physically I prepare by stretching and by working on my touch before the game.

VYPE: How do you respond internally after a mistake, especially when others are watching?
BS: I respond by forgetting about it and I try to not get down on myself especially when people are watching.

VYPE: How do you balance individual expectations with doing what’s best for the team?
BS: I always try to put the team before my individual expectations because what’s good for the team is what’s good for me.

VYPE: What role do your teammates and coaches play in pushing you to be better every day?
BS: My teammates and coaches do a great job of always encouraging and pushing me to always do my best.

VYPE: What have the toughest matches taught you that easy wins never could?
BS: Tough matches make the win feel much more rewarding while easy matches feel less satisfying.

VYPE: What responsibility do you feel to set the tone on and off the field?
BS: I feel like both on and off the field I set a very positive and respectful environment.
