VYPE: Shaelynn, what’s been your favorite moment this season as a softball player?
Shaelynn Smith: My favorite moment from this season was senior night, getting to play one last home game with my girls.
VYPE: What do you love most about this team and your teammates?
SS: I love that our team stays positive no matter what and we encourage each other.
VYPE: What position are you playing this year?
SS: I am playing shortstop, center, and first.
VYPE: What are your strengths on the field and what have you improved the most this year?
SS: My strengths are being able to not get in my head and being a contact hitter. I am working to improve my throws and quicker transfers.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
SS: Jordan Johnson, she is my cousin who now plays pro softball for the Florida Vibe and I hope to make it as far as her one day.
VYPE: What’s been the biggest surprise this season?
SS: The biggest surprise for me this season was how close I got with Layla my second baseman.
VYPE: What’s your favorite subject in school and who is your favorite teacher?
SS: My favorite subject in school is math it comes very easy to me. My favorite teacher would be Jeremiah Johnston.
VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal and who keeps everyone laughing?
SS: I feel like I was the most vocal but Montana always made everyone laugh and kept a smile on everyone’s face.
VYPE: How do you enjoy spending your free time?
SS: Hanging out with family, practicing, and playing slow-pitch softball.
