9 Questions with XC Runner Jordan Rangel – Presented by Dolton Funeral Home

VYPE: Jordan, when did you start competing in cross country?

Jordan Rangel: I started in 7th grade.

VYPE: What’s been your best run this season or favorite moment?

JR: My favorite moment so far is breaking sub 17 mins in the 5k. I ran 16:56 at RSU and I was able to do this with my mom watching which helped me push. This is a great moment for me because it shows my summer training was paying off.

VYPE: Which teammate has impressed you the most this year?

JR: Hunter Nevarez has impressed me a lot. However, I was expecting this from him as he is a great runner and enjoys running.

VYPE: How do you prepare yourself mentally for competition?

JR: I really just tell myself that I am prepared and that I am good enough. I have always dealt with race anxiety and just always kind of not put my full effort in. However, this year has been different as I am able to mentally prepare for my races. Towards then of my races when it’s gets hard, I just tell myself that I am the best and that I can do this.

VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing and who is the most serious?

JR: My dear friend Tucker Webb is the funniest and always puts a smile on my face. I believe Kellen is the most serious when it comes down to who is the most serious out of us.
