Academically Speaking with Owasso’s Tag Goodrich – Presented by McGraw Realtors Owasso

VYPE: Tag, what grade are you in and when did you join the academic team?
Tag Goodrich: I am a senior, and I joined the academic team in 7th grade.
VYPE: What do you enjoy most about being on the team?
TG: My favorite thing about the team is the togetherness. We genuinely enjoy being on the
team together, and when we win, we all win.
VYPE: As a member of the team, what do you feel is your strength?
TG: My strength is questions about sports, and another year of school has helped me refine
my skills for math and history questions.
VYPE: What makes Collinsville High School a great place to be a student?
TG: CHS is a great place for me because of the friends that I have. I love spending time with
them every day.

VYPE: Is there anyone on the team this year that has impressed you this year?
TG: I have been really impressed by my teammate Boston. He rejoined the team after a year
of being gone, and he’s slotted in perfectly, answering a lot of important questions.
VYPE: Who keeps everyone laughing and who is the most serious person on the team?
TG: I don’t think there’s a specific person who keeps everyone laughing, because we’re all
very funny. However, I think my teammate Leif is the most serious.
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare for competition?
TG: Mentally preparing myself for competition is a difficult task, but I find that the most
efficient way of getting ready is just to clear my head. I accomplish this by having
conversations with everyone on the team, and I think that calms all of us down.
VYPE: What’s your favorite thing about your teammates?
TG: My favorite thing about my teammates is how dedicated they are. We have people who
are seniors who have been on the team since they were freshmen, because everyone
genuinely cares about doing well.
VYPE: What are your plans for life after high school?
TG: I’m not sure yet. I know that I want to study political science, but I don’t know where
yet. I have a $15k per year scholarship to Minnesota, so that’s my first choice for now.
