Catoosa Cheer – Team Spotlight – Presented by Catoosa Flowers

Catoosa Cheer Spotlight

Erin Davis and the Catoosa cheer squad have enjoyed a fun season to start the 2024-25 school year. Coach Davis took over the cheer program seven years ago and has worked to increase participation while coaching and mentoring the team.

This season was highlighted by a group of seniors who coach Davis has known since they were in middle school.

“I have had this group of seniors since they were in the 7th grade. Watching them grow, not only as cheerleaders, but as the wonderful, young women they are each becoming is the best thing I could ask for. I am truly blessed to have had them all of these years,” said Davis.

Three seniors were selected as captains this season.

“Te’a Chilcoat, Taylor Hoffman, and Maddie Belt. These three young women each possess qualities that make our team of captains one of the best groups,” said Davis.

Having known this group for several years, coaching them and watching them move to the next chapter of life is bittersweet for coach Davis. For Davis, the underclassmen entering the program are proving they can step up and fill the vacancy once the seniors have graduated and move on.

“My seniors aren’t only amazing, but so are my underclassmen. This group as a whole is almost 100 percent drama free! They’re good students, hard workers on and off the mat, and they want to do their best for Catoosa High School. When asked to do anything, these girls will jump through hoops to get it done, and they do it to the best of their abilities with great attitudes. They make my job easy,” said Davis.

The rest of the school year is full of activities as the team turns their focus from the football field to the gym.

“We have a jammed pack schedule ahead of us, so we will continue to cheer on our Indians in basketball and wrestling this year, while also continuing to promote school spirit in other areas of the school,” said Davis.
