CATOOSA INDIANS

Coach: SAL GUERRERO

4-6

OFFENSE

The Catoosa Indians are coming into the 2024 campaign looking to build off of last season, which saw them double the number of wins that they had the season before. Second year head coach Sal Guerrero is looking for the team’s experience to shine this season. “I am excited going into this season,” he said. “We are very senior heavy this season. These kids have been getting meaningful snaps since they were freshmen. I am excited to see them have a big season.” One of the players expected to have a big season for the Indians this season is wide receiver and defensive back Deandre Hamilton (6-3, 170, Sr.). Guerrero says that Hamilton is one of those players that has an impact on both sides of the ball. “Deandre is a hard worker and a great team leader. He is a lockdown corner that teams throw away from. He is a playmaker on offense with great hands and is also a solid blocker.” Joining Hamilton at wide receiver is Braxton Repschleager (6-4, 185, Sr.). He is another big-time player that is being looked at to play at the next level. He does a great job of going up to get the ball or taking a handoff in the backfield. Running back Devin Johnson (6-0, 180, So.) will be in the backfield, looking to find open space to move the ball. Managing the offense at quarterback will be Brogan O’Neal (6-0, 140, Jr.). One player that gives coaches options is Mike Blendowski (5-8, 150, Sr.). He can play at running back or wide receiver and handles the kicking duties on special teams. Tranel Love (6-1, 280, Jr.) will be the team’s anchor on the offensive line.

DEFENSE

Last season saw the Catoosa defense give up an average of 34 points per game. They will have to lower that number in order for the team to improve on their record last season, but Guerrero expects his defense to step up. “We play a multiple look defense, and we are going to be fast and physical.” Leading the defense is linebacker Aiven Robbins (6-3, 220, Jr.), whose 138 tackles made him one of the top tacklers in the state. He has put in the work in the offseason and is looking to increase his production this season. Joining him at linebacker will be Logan Hargrove (5-11, 155, Jr.) and Jayce Richardson (6-1, 200, Sr.). Working to be a disruptor on the defensive line will be defensive end Boomer Lovins(6-3, 225, Sr.). Patrolling the secondary and working to shut down the big plays will be defensive backs Tanner Casey (6-0, 150, Sr.) and Seth Charles (6-0, 160, Sr.). Assistant coaches this season are Joe Brown, Mark Wheeland, Austin Junghans, Mason Russ, Andrew Dearmond, and Blake Davis.
