As a member of the Catoosa varsity cheer squad, Brianna Millsap enjoys not only cheering on her school to victory, but also creating and growing friendships with her teammates.
“This is my first year of cheerleading,” she said. “I would have to say that by far my favorite moments would be pre game bus rides and getting ready with my team. I love the energy when we are all listening to music and laughing together.”
Millsap is a sophomore at Catoosa. Along with cheerleading, she is also a member of the Student Council.
She is thankful for all of her teammates that she cheers alongside, but Brianna has one teammate that has had an influence.
“I think the teammate that has had the biggest impact on me has been my captain, Te’a Chilcoat,” she said. “She is someone I look up to and admire when I want to improve as a teammate and person.”
Away from cheer, Millsap has had other people that have played a role in her becoming the person she is today.
“My mom has been a huge impact in my life, not only because she is a dazzling woman, but she is also my biggest supporter,” she stated. “Also, my freshman year government teacher, and now leadership teacher, Mr. Cheves. He has taught me that I have a voice, and that I can be heard.”
There is a lot that goes into being a successful athlete. But Brianna knows that in order to be able to get where she wants, she also has to be successful in the classroom.
“I would say that it takes a lot of composure and adaptability when balancing school work and other activities,” she said.
Wearing the CHS uniform is something that Millsap is proud to be able to do.
“Being a Catoosa Indian is a memorable privilege,” she said. “I’m proud to be able to cheer for such a lovely and talented community.”
