Collinsville Cardinal Baseball

As head coach Tony Reeder prepares for another season at Collinsville High School, several of his players are carrying over the successes of seasons past and the chemistry they have developed together.

“The chemistry on this team is some of the best we have ever had. We have 11 seniors that lead the way and a core group of underclassmen that have a lot of experience. We are really excited to see these guys get on the field this March and compete against some of the best teams in the state,” said coach Reeder.

With this many seniors on the team, the Cardinals are experience rich. Bentley Brown (Sr.) is a three-year starter at shortstop and someone who hits in the middle of the lineup. At 6-foot-1, 160-pounds, Brown has the athleticism and skills to play at the next level. Coach Reeder said Brown is the “energy bus that drives our team.” Reeder continued. “We look forward to seeing him have a great year as he helps lead our team back to the State Tournament.”

Another infielder and pitcher coach Reeder mentioned is Cal Schlomann (Jr.). A varsity player since his freshman season, Schlomann brings two years of starting experience to the bump and as a position player. Taking on more of a leadership role this year, Schlomann will play a big role in the team’s overall success.

One of the leaders in the pitching rotation is JJ Burwell (Sr.). A right-hander who is no stranger to big games, Burwell will lead the pitching staff giving the Cardinals someone who can set the tone for the team.

Other players to watch include Preston Willis, a two-year starter in the middle of the order. Willis is a consistent player who works hard to be dependable in the field and at the plate. Also look for Parker Collins in centerfield. Collins is a “glue” type player who is all-in on the Cardinals making post-season play.
