Collinsville’s Nickie Vandiver
Former Westmoore graduate and now Collinsville mom, Nickie Vandiver, has two student-athletes in the Collinsville Public School system.
Brady Vandiver is a sophomore at the high school and a member of the varsity golf team while Blake, an eighth grader is involved in junior high football and track. Vandiver is currently volunteering her time to serve as the president of the golf booster club.
“I enjoy helping the coaches and kids grow our program and watching the team grow individually and as teammates,” Vandiver said. “My responsibilities as president include holding booster meetings, creating fundraisers, ordering gear, and assisting the coaches with whatever else they need.”
Being involved in her kid’s activities has always been a priority for Vandiver.
“ ”“I have always been involved in my children’s activities. It is important for parents to be involved because it creates a supportive/positive environment, promotes confidence, opens communication and shows them how important/valued they are. Not only does it help in sports, but it helps children blossom in social and academic skills. Every child deserves someone to show up for them, whether it’s in athletics or everyday life,” said Vandiver.
The small town feel, and location were two big reasons the Vandiver family made their home in Collinsville. Vandiver admits it takes a small army to accomplish what they do and she couldn’t do it without other volunteers.
“Collinsville offers a blend of small-town charm, proximity to Tulsa’s amenities, and a strong school system. There are plenty of community events and recreational opportunities,” Vandiver said. “We have a VP, Ryan Wise, and a secretary, Lori Freeman. I have great board members, coaches, and a group of very involved parents. The program would not be able to flourish without their help.”
