OUTLOOK
Some excitement is building around the Lady Cardinals this season as head coach Kailan Woods takes over the program, inheriting a team that went 11-14 last season.
“We have a new head coach which means a new system for our kids to learn. We are very excited for what’s to come this season after seeing the progress made during team camps this past summer with no practice time. We believe we are going to make huge strides this season toward being a highly successful program,” said coach Woods.
The senior class is a little thin with only two players, but Payton Jones and Kate Reid are gamers who look ready to play. Jones brings passion and a competitive streak that will shows up in hustle and grit. When a defensive stop is needed, look for Jones to make it. Reid can play shooting guard or point guard and like Jones, plays excellence defense. The combo will be tough for opponents to deal with this season.
“ ”Another guard to watch is Joely Wise (Jr.) who coach Woods said, “works extremely hard, does exactly what she’s asked to do and comes with a great attitude each day.” The junior class also features Anna Appelberg in the post, Kobie Brader at guard, Jennah Christian at forward, Hayden McDowell at guard, and Avery Oder at forward.
The sophomore class is exciting, bringing energy and athleticism to the floor for the Lady Cardinals. That group includes Ella Armstrong in the post, Kailyn Breeding at guard, Kaylee Brown at guard, Brynlie Guess at guard, Avery Harlin at guard, Jami Holdman at forward, Emma McManus at forward, Elia Montala-Blanch at guard and Daylynn Swake in the post.
Entering their first year of varsity play are Isabella Garcia at guard, Bella Herald at guard, and Anyiah Johnson in the post.
