Collinsville’s Joely Wise Athlete Spotlight Presented by J & K Equipment

Joely Wise

Collinsville High School

When Collinsville High School’s Joely Wise steps onto the course this season, she will be competing as a sophomore at the varsity level. An exciting time for Wise as she has grown up playing golf with her father.

“I’m a sophomore and I’ve played golf for two years with the school, but I’ve played with my dad since I was little,” said Wise.

As a team, the Lady Cardinals are growing as a team with a few fresh faces, but Wise is confident in her teammates and their ability to help the team in tournament play.

“The team has a few new players this year who are working hard and we are looking forward to a season with a fun group and good coach,” said Wise. “Golf can be mentally challenging, and I’ve worked to focus on one shot at a time.”

Also a member of National Honor Society, Wise is a three-sport athlete participating in basketball and cheer prior to the start of golf season. Every student-athlete faces the same challenges with balancing schoolwork and sports, but for Wise, having the opportunity to compete with friends is what she loves about being a student-athlete.

“What I love most about being a student-athlete is getting to be involved in something with my friends,” said Wise. “We have fun together on and off the course and can always make each other laugh.” Wise said her favorite subject in school is history with coach Linn and she is looking forward to attending college after high school to become a physical therapist. In her free time Wise enjoys hanging out with friends, taking naps or playing her favorite course at Bailey Ranch in Ow
