Collinsville’s Micah Campbell
No. 1 singles tennis player for the Collinsville Cardinals, Micah Campbell, has played the game for all four years of high school. Campbell said that’s an accomplishment he is proud of as a student-athlete.
“My biggest accomplishment is definitely being on varsity my four years of high school tennis,” said Campbell.
This season Campbell has continued to push himself and work on his game.
“My strength is definitely my serve and I’ve gotten much better consistency throughout this season,” Campbell said. “Recovery is definitely the hardest part trying to give your all in school and your sport is very taxing.”
The support Campbell gets from family and coaches drives him to perform.
“The support from my coaches mean the world to me, knowing they’re here for me helps me play my best tennis,” Campbell said. My dad is my inspiration because he’s always working hard and if he can do it in his work, I can do it on the court.”
Campbell said he likes being around his teammates because they can joke around and have fun while competing at a high level.
Once his playing days come to an end, Campbell said he is making plans for the next chapter of life.
“Find a good job and be happy with my girlfriend and a couple cats,” said Campbell.
