Gavin Tew Talks Collinsville Tennis – Presented by Owasso Auto Spa

VYPE: Gavin, what grade are you in and when did you start playing tennis?

Gavin Tew: I’m a senior, I started playing tennis around age 14.

VYPE: What have you enjoyed the most about being a member of the tennis team?

GT: The thing I’ve enjoyed the most is the dynamic of the team itself, the passion and intention that every player and coach has.

VYPE: What are your strengths and what have you improved on the most?
GT: My strength would have to be my serve and that is also what I’ve improved most on this season.

VYPE: What makes CHS a great place to be a student-athlete?
GT: CHS is a great place in my opinion because of the derivation each coach takes to their sport as well as the teacher in the classroom making sure I participate but still learning on the rate I need to.

VYPE: What your biggest challenge as a student-athlete?
GT: The biggest challenge as a student athlete would be getting enough rest between competitions and school.

VYPE: What does the support you receive mean to you?
GT: The support I gain from the people around me, really pushes me to be my best and give all the effort I possibly can.

VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
GT: The way I prepare mentally is one making sure I have enough rest and two praying for strength and clarity to do the best I can.

VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?
GT: What I love most about my teammates is how on fire and competitive they can all be and at the same time how much fun they can all have.

VYPE: What is the goal for life after high school?
GT: The goal for life after high school Is to continue to be intent with everything I do and always stay open to learning new things

VYPE: Who inspires you?
GT: My grandpa is my greatest inspiration firing and fueling me to always give my best efforts in all I do.

VYPE: How important are academics to you?
GT: My academics are very important and are a first priory when it comes to being a student-athlete.
