23-24 Record: 13-13
OUTLOOK
Coach Clif Warford is taking over a team that lost one starter from last season. After a good summer on the court, Warford said he is excited to see what this team can accomplish.
“I believe that we will surprise some teams this year with our athleticism. We will look to run the floor and score in transition early and often. I am looking forward to getting this season started as this will be a fun group to watch and coach,” said Warford.
Someone every Mustang fan is excited to see back is Ashtyn Warford (5-6, Jr.) at point guard. Last season Warford averaged 23 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.3 assists per game at Ketchum HS. She joins Oologah’s leading scorer last season in Kailee Seaba (5-11, Jr.) at forward. Seaba averaged 15.1 points with 8.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals a game. This tandem could light things up for the Mustangs.
“ ”“Kailee has a very high basketball IQ and is a very good passer. She has been named to the All-Conference team the past two seasons and I anticipate a big year for her,” said coach Warford.
Senior Kalley Hogue (5-5) is a guard who can shoot and play solid defense. Hogue averaged 8.5 points a game last season. Hogue will shoot the three and has developed into a leader on the court. A pair of sophomores in Allie Charloe (5-5) and Mackey Callico (5-5) are looking to make an impact after averaging 5.5 and 5.3 points per game as freshmen respectively.
“Callico and Charloe both saw significant playing time last year and I believe they will both provide solid scoring and aggressive defense for us this year. Some others that will figure into the rotation will be senior Jentry Griswold, sophomore Karsyn Littlepage and junior Finnley Braggs. They should each help us in the interior with their rebounding and defensive skills. I also have two freshmen who could see varsity minutes. Maci Moody and McKayla Guffey are both hard workers and could provide a spark for us off the bench,” said coach Warford.
