Owasso Girls Wrestling, Peyton Maggered – Presented by McGraw Owasso

VYPE: What grade are you currently in and how long have you been wrestling?

Peyton Maggered: I am in 10th grade. I have been wrestling for three years.

VYPE: What meal/snack do you enjoy before and after matches?

PM: I like to have grilled chicken before my matches.

VYPE: What makes being a student athlete at Owasso special to you?

PM: Being an athlete at Owasso is special to me because everyone is super supportive and wants everyone to do well.

VYPE: What are your plans for after graduation?

PM: After high school I want to play softball in college and go to medical school.

VYPE: Who has been a big influence in your life and why?

PM: A big influence in my life is my mom. She is a very hard worker and I want to be like her when I’m older.

VYPE: What is the funniest thing an opponent has said to you on the mat?

PM: The funniest thing someone has said to me during a match was when I was pinning a girl and it was hurting her so she was yelling at me and then she bit me.

VYPE: Who is the best opponent you have faced and how did it turn out?

PM: The best opponent I’ve faced was Bella Williams from Edmond North. She was a junior and has still not lost a match. I wrestled her in the semis at state last year. She had pinned everyone that year except me. She beat me by points, and she was so mad she didn’t pin me that she cried.

VYPE: What move took you the longest to master or get good at?

PM: The move that took me the longest to get good at was a roll through tilt.

VYPE: Do you think wrestling is the toughest sport? If so, why?

PM: I think wrestling is one of the toughest sports because it’s very physical but it’s also very mental. There is a lot of conditioning, and you can’t get through it with just the endurance you have to be strong mentally too.
