Owasso’s Cooper Auschwitz – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Arrowhead Roofing

Owasso’s Cooper Auschwitz

Owasso is known for a few things. It’s home to some pretty good Bar-B-Que, several professional athletes have called it home, and Owasso plays baseball!

This season the Rams have amassed nearly 30-wins on the season and are looking to add another state title to an already full trophy case.

Senior Cooper Auschwitz started playing the game when he was five years old. Now a senior playing in the outfield for coach Turner, Auschwitz said being a Ram is all about being a team player.

“My strength is my hitting and I’ve most improved on my speed,” Auschwitz said. “I love my teammates because they encourage me to keep going every day.”

Finding a balance between playing on one of the best baseball teams in the state and keeping up with grade and a social life can be a challenge. For Auschwitz, help from the teachers has proven to be a big asset.

“Teachers help athletes keep our grades up and care about their involvement in school activities,” said Auschwitz.

The culmination of all the hard work on the field and the dedication to grades in the classroom is something that Auschwitz focuses on with the plan of playing baseball at the next level. From the mental preparation before every game to the dedication of time in the cage, Auschwitz said playing collegiate baseball and continuing his education is the goal.

The senior said he was proud to represent OHS in the state tournament and hopes they can do it again this season.
