Chemistry is important on any team at any level including varsity. For Kennedy Hamilton and the Lady Rams of Owasso, chemistry is no problem.
“What I love most about my teammates is the atmosphere we have created. We like to find ways to keep things competitive but also fun. We push each other to be better on and off the field,” said Hamilton.
The senior has overcome more adversity in a short period of time than some people face in a lifetime. Her faith is a source of strength for Hamilton.
“My strength to overcome all the obstacles I’ve faced comes from my faith. After having open heart surgery at the age of seven, it changed my perspective on how to handle hard better. Every time I step on the field, I know it’s a gift to play the game and to glorify the Lord while doing so. After facing so many challenges I realized that enduring and overcoming is how I’m called to glorify the Lord,” said Hamilton.
Leadership is another characteristic Hamilton shares with many of her teammates.
“Leadership has played a big role this year as we are a senior heavy class. One positive I love about this team is that we play unselfish and have a team focus. Another thing about this team is that we do a really good job trusting the process and putting the extra work in,” said Hamilton.
A member of National Honor Society, Hamilton plans to attend Baker University to further her academic and athletic career.
Hamilton said her parents continue to make a big impact in her life.
“My parents have had a huge impact on my life. They are always encouraging me to work hard and chase my dreams. Also my poppy has had a huge impact on my life as a former athlete. He always has good advice and wisdom about being mentally tough.”
