Q&A with Skiatook’s Kody Gibson – Presented by RibCrib

By Byron Beers

VYPE: What goals do you have for this year in baseball?

Kody Gibson: I want to win our district as well as hosting the tournament. I also want to make the state tournament.

VYPE: What has baseball taught you that you use in your daily life?

KG: No matter how bad of a slump you’re in, it’s all just a mental game and you can always get over it.

VYPE: What’s your favorite glove/bat to use?

KG: I don’t really have a favorite bat to use. I just make sure it’s a -3 and 33 inches and I’ll grab it, but my favorite glove to use is a Rawlings infield glove.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

KG: I’m always inspired by my brother. He’s always trying to make himself better and stronger and I’m always just looking to compete with him.

VYPE: What do you think makes a great baseball player?

KG: Someone who knows the game very well with lots of work ethic baseball is a hard game to play so you need to stay consistent in your training.

VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.

KG: I’m of course going to think it’s me but if I answered that with full honesty, I would have to say my brother. He’s just a lot better at some things than I am. He’s a great competitor.

VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?

KG: I love listening to Zack Bryan or ZZ Top before games but one that gets me in a hyped mood would definitely be listening to “Sum 2 Prove” by Lil Baby with the team.
