Victoria Switzner
Skiatook High School
VYPE: Victoria, when did you start playing volleyball?
Victoria Switzner: I started playing volleyball in 7th grade, I wasn’t sure if I was going to make the team or not and went into it just for fun. I ended up making the team and have enjoyed every year of it since.
VYPE: What are you seeing from the team this year?
VS: As I have grown with my teammates, I’ve seen great progress in everyone. This year a lot of my teammates have stepped up their game and have increased through strength, agility, and lots of discipline.
VYPE: Are you involved in other activities?
VS: Another sport I play at Skiatook is girl’s soccer. I have played soccer since I was six playing in rec teams, and clubs, and participating in camps throughout Oklahoma.
VYPE: What makes SHS the right school for you?
VS: Being at Skiatook schools as a student-athlete has helped me improve my skills, education, athleticism, and ability to work hard. They have given me opportunities that I am so grateful for.
VYPE: Where does your work ethic come from?
VS: My strong work ethic comes from my wonderful Dad. He has always reminded me that it’s not about how bad you want it, but how much you are willing to work for it.
VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?
VS: What I love most about my teammates here is that we are always here for each other on the bad days and the absolute worst days. My teammates give me the confidence to do my best on the court and remind me that no mistake is bigger than another one.
VYPE: How would you end this season if you could write the script?
VS: That we make it to state and bring home a trophy for our school this year and not only grow as individuals on the court but also grow together as a team.
VYPE: How do you enjoy spending your free time?
VS: I like to go hiking, crocheting, spending time with family, and doing arts and crafts. I also like to go outside, hike, play with the animals, and fish on the days that I’m off.
VYPE: Who has made a big impact in your life?
VS: A person who has impacted my life greatly is my beloved memaw. She always supported me in anything that I did and took care of me when there was nobody else. She spent her time caring for me and made sure I was loved always, and I will never be able to thank her enough for everything she did for me.
