BOOKER T. WASHINGTON HORNETS

Coach: DAN BITSON

2-8

OFFENSE

According to head coach Dan Bitson, the strength of the Hornets this season will come from the offensive and defensive lines. Derek Chambers (6-0, 320, Sr.) will anchor the big dawgs up front on offense. Chambers will have some help from guys who will likely see time on defense as well. Levi Brooks (6-3, 185, Jr.) will benefit from having a good group up front as the Hornets will implement their single-back system. Brooks has the arm and the legs to move the chains. One of the go-to receivers in the passing game is Keynan Farley (5-11, 195, Jr.) and tight end Jordin Howze (6-4, 205, Sr.). Both guys are solid route runners with good hands. The run game will feature Mykah Washington (5-8, 160, Jr.) and Caleb Barnes (5-9, 170, Jr.). When Washington and Barnes have the ball, they are a threat to take it the distance. Also look for Kayden McClellan and Tyler Phillips to contribute to the offense from their wide receiver spots. Add Demetrius Frazier to that list and you have an offense that will give opposing defenses all sorts of problems.

DEFENSE

The 4-3 Hornet defense features one of the top sophomore prospects on the defensive line in Joseph Graves (6-3, 290, So.). Graves will go both ways for the Hornets and his presence on the defensive line will force opponents to double-team the sophomore. Graves will garner a lot of attention giving guys like Yiramiyah Parry (6-3, 210, Jr.) at defensive end, the opportunity to blow things up in the backfield. Kenton Bowen (6-1, 210, Sr.) is another guy who will play on the line giving the Hornets someone who is quick off the ball and can run down ball carriers. Boone Garrett-Spring (5-10, 190, Jr.) starts at linebacker with Howze playing OLB. Garrett-Spring has the wheels to go sideline-to-sideline and make plays. Jaiden Thomas (Sr.) is another linebacker the Hornets will lean on for big plays. Derreon Overstreet (6-0, 165, Sr.) and Daylinn Overstreet (5-10, 155, Sr.) will shore up the secondary while others like Maximus Houston (So.) will step in and gain some valuable experience. Houston could see time at QB as well. Farley will see time in the secondary as well as senior Khamani Green. Overall the defense has a solid nucleus of players and with some younger talent, should be a tough defense to crack.
