9 Questions with Webster’s Jose Zermeńo – Soccer Spotlight – Presented by Arnold’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers

Webster’s Jose Zermeńo

VYPE: Jose, when did you start playing soccer and what grade are you in now?

Jose Zermeńo: I started playing soccer when I was in kindergarten, and I’m in 11th grade now.

VYPE: What position do you play for Webster HS?

JZ: I play Right Wing or CAM.


 VYPE: Tell us your favorite memory on the pitch as a player.

JZ: My favorite memory on the field was probably when I went to Spain or Colombia and got to experience a higher version of soccer.
 

VYPE: What is the strength of your game?

JZ: I think my strength is probably my speed, and I have improved in being stronger mentally and not giving up. 

VYPE: Who inspires you?

JZ: My dad has been a big inspiration for me on and off the field. He has supported me ever since I was little and he pushes me every day to be a better soccer play and a better person in life, he’s taught me so many things in life and I look up to him because he is my motivation in life to stay hungry.
 

VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?

JZ: The thing I love most about my teammates probably is we can have a good time while also doing what we have to do.
 

VYPE: What makes WHS a great place for you as an athlete?
 JZ: It is a good environment and I have bunch of friends who go here at Webster that are like family to me.
 

VYPE: How do you like to spend your down time?
 JZ: When I have some down time, I usually either spend it with family, girlfriend or soccer.VYPE: What are your plans for the summer and life after high school?
JZ: My plans for the summer are to keep grinding hard for soccer and work to make lots of money. My goal after high school is to play either D1/D2 college soccer.
