OUTLOOK
The Webster Warriors may be young, but what they may lack in experience they make up for with athleticism and scoring. Head coach Glenn Henry said it’s an exciting time to be a Webster Warrior.
“Webster basketball is excited for the upcoming season. Webster still has a young team, but has three returning starters who are juniors,” said coach Henry.
Hondo Avington (6-0, Jr.) averaged 11 points and 2.7 rebounds a game at guard last season. Avington is a VYPE Top 100 selectee after having 15 double-digit games last season while leading the team in scoring. Terrance Franklin (6-2, Jr.) joins Avington at guard giving the Warriors a solid backcourt. Franklin accounted for 3.5 points and 2.7 rebounds as a sophomore.
“ ”Corday Littlejohn (6-2, Jr.) is a productive forward who averaged 3.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest. Littlejohn alongside Sheldon Stephenson (6-3, Sr.) give the Warriors two guys willing to do the dirty work in the paint. Stephenson averaged 4.1 points with 4.1 rebounds a year ago.
Seniors Gauge Black (6-1) and Marqualyn Barnett (6-0) are two guard who can help this team stay fresh without sacrificing production. Barnett accounted for 1.3 points with 1.1 rebounds and his numbers are expected to climb this season. Other players to watch include Jordan Derion (6-2, So.), Xavier Bower (6-5, So.), Kyelan Elliot-Shaw (6-4, So.), and Jaylan Royston (5-10, So.).
