One of the top players in the area calls East Central High School home. Her story is unique, her style is progressive, and her relentless pursuit of excellence is why Chloe Woodson is on her way to becoming one of the top players to ever suit up at East Central. And that’s not easy to say.
Only a sophomore, Woodson has the tools to be the go-to player on her team, but Woodson said she loves her teammates and everything they bring to the court. From their work ethic to their ability to play at a high level, Woodson said collectively they have one goal, to win state.
“What I love most about my teammates is that we all work hard and want the same thing, to win state,” Woodson said.
Coming into the season, Woodson said she has worked on everything from shooting to ball handling and conditioning to be ready for tipoff.
“My defense and transition offense are my strongest skill sets and also being a combo guard with the skill set to drive scorer,” Woodson said.
Woodson turned the focused onto her teammates and what they mean to the overall success of the program.
“Aaliyah is the most vocal and Peaches keeps everyone laughing. Jayla will step up this season and have a big impact on the team. I also feel like Cadrian, Cam, Kamaruri, Jasmine are wonderful teammates. I don’t want to leave them out. We’re a small squad but we fight like the 300 Spartans. My favorite quote: “He who sweats more in training bleeds less in war” – Leonidas.
Woodson said she finds inspiration in Isaiah Evans from Duke University.
“He’s not ashamed to talk about how he delt with adversity and how he even had a breaking point. And he also became really confident, and it help him get to where he’s at now. This also relates to me,” Woodson said.
