Connor Payne
Berryhill High School
There are two things you should know about Connor Payne of Berryhill High School before you step onto the field to compete against him. First, he can beat you in multiple ways. Throwing the ball or running the ball and at 6-foot-4, 210-pounds, Payne is not easy to bring down. He might be a quarterback, but he does not shy away from contact. The second thing you should know is very few players will outwork him or prepare as hard. So, know this, Payne is ready, are you?
“I’ve loved football and knew it was the sport for me for as long as I can remember. I first started playing when I was in the second grade,” Payne said.
The senior said he has a great offensive line and a great coaching staff at Berryhill.
“This year we have almost everyone returning with a great O line,” said Payne. “Berryhill is a great place for many reasons but the things that mostly stand out is the community, game day atmosphere, and our great coaching staff. At Berryhill coach Harper has always pushed us to work hard and get better every day which plays a huge role in Berryhill past success.”
Known to be a leader on and off the field, Payne believes in his teammates and what they bring to the field for the Chiefs.
“I love how my teammates always show up and work hard with a positive attitude and have always had my back and supported me. This year we have a great group and if all goes as planned, we expect to play for gold this year,” said Payne.
Away from the field and school you can find Payne hanging out with the team, playing golf or playing College Football ’25. The senior said he finds inspiration in one person.
“Jesus has had the most impact in my life on and off the field in many ways,” said Payne.
As for his future, the senior is still weighing his options.
“I’m still not sure where I’ll end up going after high school but I’m not too worried about it because I know it’s in the Lords hands.”
