Bixby’s Caroline “Nellie” Robinson
Lacrosse is a sport that many feel should be an OSSAA sport and maybe someday it will. For now, the athletes who play lacrosse are limited to club teams competing against other large schools with student who participate in the sport.
Bixby High School’s Caroline Robinson is one of those athletes. Known as “Nellie” to her friends, Robinson started playing lacrosse in the eighth grade.
“I am currently in eleventh grade, and I started playing lacrosse in eighth grade. Eighth grade was also my first year at Bixby,” said Robinson.
Also a track athlete, Robinson was competing in the 800-meters and the 1600-meters for the Spartans, but decided to add pole vaulting to her skill set.
“I have been running track for the last two years. After getting into track from cross country, the first year I mostly did mid-distance (800m and 1600m) but this year I have been focusing on pole-vaulting,” said Robinson.
Lacrosse is a passion for Robinson, and she loves her teammates.

“I love my lacrosse teammates for how much heart they put into our sport. Coming to practice is a highlight for my day because our team energy is always supportive. We have a fantastic team this year, in athleticism but also in team dynamics. Some of these girls I started playing with back in eighth grade and it has been great to have a team to grow with, on and off the field. I think the best thing about my teammates is how bright and funny they are but determined during games,” said Robinson.
Robinson also takes a SAT prep course at Huntington Learning Center. An experience she is benefitting from thanks to their help.
“The best part of Huntington is feeling like the teachers and staff want to know about my interests or my day. I am always greeted with friendly smiles and asked about upcoming games or events. Although I was there to prepare for the SAT, if I had a genuine question related to my studies at school, they were always willing to answer,” said Robinson.
