Bixby’s Cord Nolan
While many of his peers who will continue their playing careers at the next level are waiting for that “signing day” moment, Bixby’s Cord Nolan wasted no time committing to a university where he will continue his playing career.
Nolan is known as an old-school type linebacker who plays a physical style of football, while bringing the new school speed and agility to the position. At 6-foot, 210-pounds, Nolan has the frame to add a few pounds and be a terror on the field for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. But before he leaves the friendly confines of Bixby for Lubbock, Texas, Nolan and his teammates are focused on bringing home another gold ball for the Spartans.
Setting team goals and personal goals drives this group at BHS and Nolan is no different.
“My goal for myself is 120 tackles this season and for a team goal is to dominate every game so we can win a championship again,” said Nolan.
Something that stands out when you watch Nolan on the field, whether that’s in practice or a game, he always brings an intense work ethic. Something he gets from the people he is closest to in life.
“My parents and just the mindset I have that I won’t have any reason at all for someone on the field to be more prepared than myself,” Nolan said. “Linebacker is physically hard, and you have to be a little crazy to play it.”

This offseason, Nolan worked on his strength and speed while gaining 15-pounds making him one of the larger linebackers in the class. His talent caught the eye of recruiters, but for Nolan, his focus is on the upcoming season. The senior said several of his teammates have made tremendous strides over the summer and have looked great in team camp.
“We’re athletic, smart and a team that likes to play football,” Nolan said. “Players to watch are Gabe Blankenship and Joe Peters. Also Jack Gill looks very good.”
After taking the L against Norman last season, Nolan and his teammates are looking forward to taking the field against the Tigers, but Nolan knows every game is equally important. Nolan said his inspiration comes from his faith.
“Jesus Christ is my source of inspiration. He never messed up in his 33 years here on earth so striving to be like that each and every day. We will never get there but can always try,” said Nolan.
