Bixby’s Millie Azlin – FFA and Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Stewart Martin Kubota

Bixby’s Millie Azlin

Millie Azlin is more than just a wrestler at Bixby High School. The junior also participates in the FFA program at school. Azlin is making a name for herself on the mat and is proud to represent BHS in the sport and in FFA.

Azlin started wrestling in the fourth grade, and she quickly fell in love with the sport.

“I love that it pushes me to be the best person I could possibly be on and off the mat,” said Azlin.

This year Azlin is going for her third state title and has a shot at becoming a four-time state champion as a senior. Head coach Paul Mayfield said Azlin is one of the top wrestlers in the nation.

“Millie is Ranked #4 in the nation. She is a leader, and captain for our program. She is a two-time state champion,” said coach Mayfield.

The Lady Spartans are one of the top female wrestling teams in the state. A fact not lost on Azlin or her teammates.

“Aiyana Perkins has impressed me with all the hard work she puts into this sport,” Azlin said. “I love how supportive they are. Aiyana keeps everyone laughing and Abbey Miller is the most serious when it comes to wrestling.”

As a member of the FFA program, Azlin shows swine and is involved in welding.

“I love showing my pigs and getting to meet amazing people. BHS has allowed me to be able to wrestle and do Ag at the same time,” said Azlin.

Once her time at Bixby High School comes to an end, Azlin said she plans to attend college and continue wrestling.

“I plan to go to college and try and make a few world teams,” said Azlin.
