Broken Arrow’s Emily Beckley – Wrestling Spotlight – Presented by Josh Moore, Shelter Insurance

Broken Arrow’s Emily Beckley

VYPE: Why are you passionate about wrestling?

Emily Beckley: I am passionate because wrestling is hard, so it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something. My favorite part of wrestling is doing fun moves and being with my teammates.

VYPE: What life lesson has wrestling taught you that can be used in everyday life?

EB: Wrestling has taught me a new level of perseverance, self-confidence and positivity.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

EB: Amit Elor inspires me the most. She is an Olympic gold medalist in women’s wrestling and has become someone I look up to.

VYPE: When did you start wrestling and what drew you to it?

EB: I started wrestling at the end of 2019 and I was drawn to it because I had so many brothers who wrestled.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your school as a student-athlete?

EB: My favorite part has to be that it is an interesting sport for some people to see. A lot of people still don’t really understand girls wrestling or even know it’s a thing.

VYPE: What is your favorite wrestling accomplishment?

EB: Probably winning the Cache tournament against a girl that I was training to beat.

VYPE: What is the best advice you have been given?

EB: If you don’t have confidence, you’ll always have a reason to not win.

VYPE: Where was your favorite vacation and what made it special?

EB: We went to Orange Beach, Alabama. It was so nice and beautiful there.

VYPE: This is your chance to thank anyone you wish.

EB: I would 100% say thank you to my coach, Tori Liles!
