Broken Arrow’s Emma Waits – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Stewart Martin Kubota Sales & Leasing

FFA stands for Future Farmers of America, but it’s not just for students who want to be farmers. FFA is also for students who want to be teachers, doctors, scientists, and much more. Emma Waits is a junior and planning to use her time with FFA to get a career. She says that her experience has given her the skills and confidence to find her love for public speaking.

Emma doesn’t have just one favorite memory with FFA. She has so many because she is constantly spending time with her best friends. Wether it’s getting ready for the Career Development Event contest and rushing to make sure they’re ready in time, playing games and practicing during downtimes, the crazy conversations, or the late night Braums runs; she loves it!

Emma got started with FFA because she just wanted to be in an agriculture class and it seemed like fun. She ended up making friends in the organization that motivated her into attending the chapter meetings and contests. She loves thatthey’re able to work hard together but also have fun at the same time. Emma signs up for as much as she can to stay active in her chapter. She has participated in reporting, cattle grading, Career Development Events, and speech contests. She has also received an SAE, Supervised Agricultural Experience, in Mechanics, Design, and Fabrication.

It’s a great honor for Emma to be able to represent the Broken Arrow FFA chapter. She says that they have an outstanding group of students and advisors. “The dedication they have poured into us students has made us grow tremendously, and I really just see us continuing to get better and building a name for ourselves,” Emma says.

Her biggest role models are Jesus, her family, and her FFA chapter, which she says is “basically family at this point.” Emma says “they are truly the greatest support system and I could not be more thankful for them. They constantly push me to be a better person, work harder, and make me realize just how blessed I am with the life that I have.”
