Joshua Ngoyi- Broken Arrow High School
Joshua Ngoyi started playing soccer early in life. He took a break to play basketball for several years but found his way back to his original sport. The encouragement from others who saw his potential and his love of the game made it an easy decision to return to soccer.
Soccer taught him that an encouraging word matters and affects people even when you do not think it will. Joshua is a junior at Broken Arrow High School. He is proud to have been part of teams making it to the state championship twoyears in a row.
He is proud of his team’s accomplishments and being able to represent BAHS as a student athlete. “We are a big school and that makes it ten times better when you see plenty of people come and support you in the sport you are playing,” he said.
Joshua’s favorite memories are all the game winning goals. He says there is nothing like the feeling when the ball hits the back of the net. These memories would not happen without teammates by his side. Outgoing senior, Jack Hendrickson, leaves a big impression on Joshua. “I feel like Jack helped me have a good season this year, helping me when I feel I didn’t play well and much more,” he said.
He is inspired by his older brother, Elijah Ngoyi. “I see how hard he works to be good at something. He brings me up with him so I can have the same mindset,” says Joshua.
English teacher, Mrs. Bordofske, is his favorite teacher. “She is such an understanding teacher, and she will talk to you as a human and not as a student. She wants the very best for all her students,” Joshua said.
Joshua is thankful first to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. “Without him, I am nothing and wouldn’t be here. I would also like to thank my parents for always going the extra mile to make sure I am the best I can be. Thank you to all my coaches, both high school and club, who have helped me better my game,” he said.
