Cheer Spotlight with Bixby’s Izzy Morgan – Presented by Josh Moore, Shelter Insurance

Bixby’s Izzy Morgan

It’s a bittersweet month for Bixby High School’s Izzy Morgan. She is graduating and leaving behind four years of great memories and cherished moments that help shape and define her as a cheerleader for the Spartans. But she’s also looking ahead and the exciting prospect of starting new and entering the world of adulthood as a college freshman.

The senior started cheering when she was just five years old. Fast-forward to her senior year and what it meant to Morgan to represent the Class of 2025.

“This season was definitely fun and such a big lesson when it comes to sports. From getting a new coach and learning a new dynamic it was such a great year. Every moment my team and I were together was always my favorite because we had so much fun and always had some type of joke going on,” said Morgan.

Her leadership on the team has been invaluable and has helped not only the team but her teammates grow into a cohesive unit.

“I have grown as backspot over the years and have served as a vital part of the team for four years now. I have learned how to grow in my leadership and communication skills as a captain this year,” Morgan said. “My biggest inspiration are the littles that look up to me. From the littles at SoCo to my freshman-juniors at Bixby. They all look up to me and that inspires me to be the best possible athlete for them.”

As a member of the SoCo cheer team, Morgan is a member of the Level 5 team, Inspire. Being part of the team has helped her become a great cheerleader for BHS.

“I’m proud of once being a freshman in varsity, winning regionals my sophomore year, making the All-State team, qualifying for Gameday State for the first time ever this year and getting 5th in Gameday at nationals this year,” said Morgan.

There are several teammates that Morgan discussed and few who left an impression on the senior.

“I am impressed with my teammate Whittier Pearman. No matter the set back or injury she always has the most uplifting spirit, and it really helps motivate and keep others going.
Katie McGeough keeps everyone laughing and the most serious is Skylar Kelley,” said Morgan.

Staying mentally sharp is important for a cheerleader and Morgan knows how to prepare for any situation or competition.
“When preparing for comps I just put it in God’s hands. I’ve done my conditioning and prep for it, and I know what I need to do. So, when time comes to compete, I let go and let God.
What I love most about my teammates is how close we all are. We all have a great bond, and they are all so awesome to be around. They all bring their own contributions to the team, and they are all so special. They are the best and I loved this season with them,” said Morgan

After high school Morgan is attending the University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree.
