Coweta Cheer Captain Chesney Thompson – Presented by Rib Crib

On the court, field or mat, Coweta High School’s Chesney Thompson is comfortable performing at a high level. As a member of the varsity cheer team, Thompson is a main base, playing a crucial role for the flyers making their way back to Earth.

“On the cheer squad, my main job is leading the team with chants and serving as a main base for our flyers and tumbling,” Thompson said. “Outside of cheer, I’m also involved in National Honor Society and the varsity volleyball.”

Thompson started cheering when she was in the first grade. Now a senior, Thompson said she loves being around her teammates at CHS.

“What I love most about my Coweta cheer team is their motivation. Everyone is always striving to be better, and that energy pushes me to do the same,” said Thompson.

This season Thompson was given a big honor by her teammates.

“One of my biggest surprises this season was being chosen by my teammates as one of our captains. It meant a lot to know they trusted me to help lead,” said Thompson.

In the classroom, Thompson said her favorite subject is math and her favorite teacher is someone from her early days in school.

“My favorite subject in school is math, and my favorite teacher is my 6th grade science teacher, Mrs. Eischen, who made learning fun and memorable,” said Thompson.

The senior said she looks to her parents as a source of inspiration.

“My parents inspire me the most they are both hardworking and constantly encouraging me to give my best effort in everything I do,” said Thompson.

In her free time, Thompson said she loves riding side-by-sides in the mountains, going to the lake, and hanging out with her friends and family. The senior has big plans for life after high school.

“After graduation, I plan to attend OSU and major in Biology with a Pre-Med focus so I can become an anesthesiologist,” said Thompson.
