OUTLOOK
Building and maintaining a competitive program is difficult. To win 29 matches in volleyball is not easy either, but that’s exactly what the team from Coweta High School did last season under the leadership of coach Janette Vele.
Coming into this season the team has a few holes to fill, but overall, the outlook is positive, and the Lady Tigers are poised for another excellent season.
“My overall outlook on this upcoming season is to develop the team as a whole. I’m aware of what we can do, and I plan to create the best scenarios for us both offensively and defensively that can contribute to our success this season. I think the most important thing for us is to build our culture and continue to build on what we started on,” said coach Vele.
Kaylee King is one player the Tiger faithful will know coming into 2025. King took some time prior to the season starting to answer a few questions about the team, and her teammates.
VYPE: Kaylee, what grade are you in, what position do you play and when did you start playing volleyball?
Kaylee King: I am in the 12 grade, I am playing Libero and I started playing volleyball when I was in the 7th grade.
VYPE: What do you love most about this team?
KK: The strong presence we bring into the gym. Whether it is our energy, confidence, or the way we support each other. We show up with intensity and make it known that we’re there to compete.
VYPE: Who are some teammates we should watch this season?
KK: Alison Boone and Ellie Foster.
VYPE: What would you say is the strength of the team?
KK: Our number one biggest team strength would have to be our chemistry. All of the seniors, Jacee W., Avery D., Chesney T., Remmie H., Alison B. have all played volleyball together since 7th grade. We have a lot of trust in each other on the court and our ability to stay focused even in tough games.
