COWETA TIGERS
Coach: TIM HARPER
7-4
OFFENSE
Attitude is everything and the players at Coweta High School have the right attitude. Head coach Tim Harper said he is looking forward to seeing this group perform and mature as the season marches forward. “We are going to be a young team in many positions, but I love our attitude and scrappiness. Offensively, we are a work in progress but there is some talent as well. We will be a team that gets better all year. Hopefully, late in the season we can make a run,” said Harper. The Tigers want to spread things out and get playmakers in space. Brock Heilmann (5-11, 185, So.) played a big role as a freshman last year amassing nearly 1,000 yards of total offense and six touchdowns. Heilmann will start at tailback giving the offense a true running back and someone who can catch the ball out of the backfield. The offensive line could be the strength of the offense. Hunter Reavis (6-0, 240, So.) will start at tackle where he graded at 85 percent last season with 10 pancakes. Offensive guard Hunter DeHues (6-1, 240, Sr.) graded at 90 percent and did not give up a sack all season last year. Look for the offense to utilize quick hitting plays and screens to gain a numbers advantage and use angles to run successful plays and move the chains.
DEFENSE
Fast and physical is what coach Harper wants from his defense. With five returning starters in the 4-3 scheme, look for big things from the Tiger defense this season. Parker Dodson (6-2, 205, Sr.) is an aggressive linebacker who brings plenty of energy to the play. Parker made over 120 tackles with two INTs last season and has interest from DII schools. This offseason Parker put up some great numbers in the weight room and carried a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. Cale Hogan (6-2, 190, Sr.) starts at linebacker/defensive end where his speed to the ball and ability to make solo tackles is showcased. Hogan will play opposite Hayden Von Holt (6-4, 235, Jr.) giving the Tigers two guys who can get after the quarterback. Kyler Moore (6-2, 185, Sr.) and Alex Scarborough (5-11, 175, Sr.) are two safeties who fly around the field and make plays. Both guys can cover or step up and help stuff the run. As younger players continue to mature and get more playing time on the defensive side of the ball, the Tigers will field a tough squad that plays fast, physical and looks for opportunities to force the opposing offense into unfavorable situations. The coaching staff consists of Scott Chronister, Joe McHenry, David McGrath, Jeff Falgien, Gabe Ellis, Lance Beck, Connor Seaba, Kent Graham, and Grayson Snider.
