COWETA TIGERS
Coach: TIM HARPER
9-2
Coweta rolls into the 2026 season with momentum and high expectations after a 9-2 campaign in 2025 and a roster that brings back most of its offensive production. Head coach Tim Harper, now in his seventh year leading the Tigers, likes the blend of returning playmakers and emerging talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball. He expects a faster, more aggressive defense to complement an explosive spread attack, giving Coweta the tools to contend in a rugged district. With confidence built from recent success and a strong offseason, the Tigers believe they can again push for the top of the standings.

Offensively, Coweta returns eight starters and will spread the field to attack defenses with both the run and play-action pass. Senior tailback Brock Heilmann (5-10, 190) is one of the state’s most productive backs after rushing for nearly 1,800 yards and adding almost 500 yards receiving last season. Senior quarterback Legend Ellis (5-9, 170) is a true dual threat who threw for about 1,800 yards and rushed for another 800, giving the Tigers a dynamic centerpiece at the position. Up front, senior linemen Lane Runnels (6-3, 285), Hunter Reavis (6-1, 265) and Jase Janes (6-3, 240) provide size and physicality, while senior slot receiver JJ Smith (5-7, 150) returns after catching 30 passes for 550 yards. Coweta’s spread scheme will look to exploit numbers and angles in the run game and hit big plays off play-action.
On defense, the Tigers bring back four starters and will line up in multiple looks designed to attack offenses from different fronts and pressures. Senior cornerback LaMarco Bell (6-0, 170) is a headliner on the back end after recording five interceptions and 49 tackles, giving Coweta a proven playmaker in coverage. Senior defensive lineman Hudson Arnold (6-2, 205) brings outstanding speed off the edge, highlighted by a 23.8 time in the 200 meters, and will be counted on as a disruptive pass rusher. Senior linebacker Mason Groth (5-10, 200) adds toughness in the middle with nearly 150 tackles over the past two seasons, anchoring the second level of the defense. Harper believes improvements in overall speed and aggression on this side of the ball will complement the offense and make the Tigers a complete, difficult matchup week after week.
